The one part of this contest I especially liked was how it stressed trying new things (so people couldn't settle into their comfort zones and churn out similar pieces to win). That said, I like seeing your landscapes. I don't think I've ever seen one before, so this is extra special. There's a lot that starshock said, so I won't repeat it. Only that there's a wonderful sense of flow through this, like my eye is very easily led from the bottom left corner on a smooth slide to the right.
Pretty splendid for a first try in a long while at landscapes...! Distinguishing the foreground, middle ground and the background like adding depth cues (size comparisons of hills in the distance or buildings gradually becoming as thin as toothpicks, for example) can go a long way~ Adding black in the fg and semi transparent colors in the bg sometimes works, but the middle ground can look washed out or unattended if not handled carefully. This might crumble the desired 'depth'. Try adding more details like grass blades in the foreground, that works like magic also : D
askdjnkas sorry for the long comment, but god you have so much potential man OTL KEEP DOING IT
Thanks! I did some changes, some in the foreground and such, thank you for all the good critique. I need more practice and do stuff like this more. I usually paint on illustration board and canvas for landscapes, and I feel more in control that way. I really need to learn how to use brushes and stuff. xDDD
Anyways, thank you again! And I will keep going. YOU TOO!!
Oh, awesome!! Looks much better, yo! I think this marathon is great for practicing things we're not accustomed to, especially because of the effort level that we're asked to reach. Hope to see more interesting things from you! >: D
